Local Artist, First solo exhibit
RE:find is a furniture shop between 4th and 5th on Northampton St. in Easton. OK, maybe just a furniture shop is an understatement. Here you will find a surprise. From the outside, you will find find furniture and art on display. The styles range from traditional to personal taste and preference. Nothing really different so far, right?
Other than some of the furniture / home decorations / art, there is something very different here. One thing about the Lehigh Valley: do not always look for local art / artists in galleries and studios. When you walk towards the back, you see a stairway. I noticed it, but had to be told about what was down there. At the bottom is the art gallery.
Now, onto how I found out about this place. Samo Jo is a local artist who has work displayed in other places. He is also a good friend. A few weeks ago, he mentioned about this being his first solo show! I had to be here. The turnout was very good when I was there. In addition to friends and family, I noticed people not familiar with his work. Jo made time for everyone. Explaining the pieces and answering questions. Was he nervous? Doubt it! If he was, did a great job hiding it. Later that evening, I noticed a post on Facebook. 3 pieces had been sold so far. Jo has a saying: "Boom for Real". His style? Hard to describe. Best way I can is "street art" from a different side.
From what I have seen in other places, knowing Jo and his first solo shot; keep an eye on this artist. I have a feeling he is one that will go very far. Both in creativity and success. Want to know about Jo and his art? Check out the interview:
