I first noticed the Union Blvd. location of Flama Tropical a few weeks ago, from walking past. Took a photo. Did a quick post on "In the Moment". Saturday night, August 17, I was walking back from Bethlehem around 1 a.m. I noticed they were still open! I had to stop by and at least check the menu.
Before I get into the full review, I want to let you know how to find it. The Union Blvd. location is actually a red trailer, mobile location. It's located near the intersection of Union Blvd. and Sherman St. in a parking lot. Honestly, kind of hard to miss.

Ok, now that you know how to find it. Time to let you know why you should give them a try.
Looking at the name, you might expect mainly Spanish food. Not really in this case. The menu is large with everything from sandwiches and salads to drinks and desserts. Maybe standard, but for a mobile location; fairly large. Most sandwich prices range from $3.50 - $7.00. Not bad and caught my attention so far! In fact, most of the menu is under $7.00. Appetizer prices? Most under $4.00.
Even though I really was not hungry; Had to try something. Looking over the menu, I decided on something very familiar: pierogies. What better way to know how the food is than going with something I know very well! The price could not be beat: $1.75. I figured even if the order contained only 2, it was a good deal. The order was better than expected: 5 medium sized pierogies for that $1.75.
How did they taste? On a scale of store bought being average and church made highest: Above average. The filling did have some flavor to it. The outside was crispy. They were a little salty; nice! Personal preference here.
How about the service? The order was taken right away in a very friendly manner. Food was made while I waited and not microwaved. Packaging was a light cardboard container wrapped in aluminum foil. If you have ever had food at a carnival / fair, you know what I am talking about. It took a few minutes for the food to cool down enough to eat.
I know this is a short review. Hey, it is a mobile location. The time was 1 a.m. on a Saturday.
Overall recommendation: Seriously, stop by here! I plan on returning and trying a sandwich. If you are on the way home, it is possible to grab dinner for the family at a reasonable price. A great way to fill up before or after a night out partying!!!! Oh, the pierogies were very filling.
I did speak with the owner. Yes, he was there on Saturday night. Turns out, the Flama Tropical is a restaurant on Linden St. in Bethlehem. Look for a review on the main location in the future. It will be nice to compare both locations.
