I will admit this, the last time I covered outdoor football was in 2014 and that was a practice. The day started with Flag Football and ended with the 130lb team. I am doing this in reverse. The Fullerton Ramblers 130 lb. team was ready to play. With a defense that stopped the Bethlehem Catholic's ground game cold. Bethlehem Catholic did try to throw the Ramblers off with a few passes, it did not work. Combine this with several encroachment penalties gave the Ramblers the win.

This was one of the very exciting games of the day! Both teams had a great ground attack and defense. A few passes were attempts to change the pace. Both teams fought hard and a lot of credit to the players and coaches.

Considering this was my first time covering outdoor youth football games, I learned a lot fast! The Flag Football game was a great teaching experience. The main aspect: pay attention and be ready with the camera from the start. Fullerton played hard with an early and lead and not looking back.

Talk about a crash course in covering outdoor youth football! I did not figure there would be a score right off. The Ramblers proved me wrong. Flag football games are interesting to watch for one reason. You can see the coaches on the field helping the players out before the snap of the ball. Even though the goal is to grab the flag of an opposing player, there is contact and a few accidental tackles.

Congratulations to both teams for well played and hard fought games! Both organizations showed how much the importance of being a team and good sportsmanship really is. Like I said, I got a great crash course in covering outdoor youth football. Thanks to both organizations for giving the lesson. Above all, please support the youth sports in your area. Like art and music, this is an essential part of teaching young adults about life.
