Fullerton Ramblers vs Allentown Central Catholic / Alton Park / Allentown, PA
I wanted to do an article showing exactly how much young athletes give for the game. Saturday, October 3 2015 was the perfect games. My first time at Alton Park and found out real quick it was basically wide open. With the winds high and temps cold, my hands were freezing within about 5 minutes.
Add in grey skies and light rain at the end, I almost expected at leas the last game (85lb) to be cancelled. No chance of that happening. The coaches and athletes proved exactly how much they love the game. Despite the weather, all teams played with passion and gave it their best.
The parents had no less spirit than on a sunny day. Shouts of encouragement were easily heard from both sides. Myself, I moved arond on occasion and kept blowing into my hands. Central Catholic did have a small food stand set up. Hot coffee and sandwiches were pretty much the standard.
A lot of credit to all the teams, coaches, families who showed up to all the games. Nature decided to announce October with force. These young athletes stood their ground and fought back.
