People talk about the history of the Lehigh Valley. What used to be here and what they remember. Well, there is a lot of living history here. By living, I mean businesses that have been around at least 10 years. Gebhardt easily fits into this one.
I stopped by here just for the hell of it. Curious about what they had and the variety. Well, when I walked in, it was a very pleasant surprise. One of them is why they are a part of Lehigh Valley history.
Speaking with someone who worked there, I asked how long Gebhardt has been around. I was informed about 100 years. It started in Hazelton as a small business with a pool table.
Walking around the store, this place has everything someone could ask for in the areas of billiards / darts / home gaming (non-electronic) / bowling and more. I did not know where to start. I did know I could easily drop $10 - $15 grand here. Price ranges for almost all budgets and styles. I saw pool tables in the range of $1500. Love darts? A wide variety of boards and accessories. I used to play darts. I asked about a section for custom building. Again, I could easily drop a lot of cash.
Building a bar for your house? You will be spending some time here. Even signs to help you figure out different heights on the bar stools. There are a few things that really caught my attention. One being a pinball game. Yes, I am talking about your standard drop a quarter (or whatever they are now), hit the flippers, nudge it, pinball game.
Another one that I commented about? In front of the counter was a table with a chess game built in. What made this one different? 2 holders for your beverages. The gentleman behind the counter also pointed out the grooves to lean your pool sticks against. Different and cool.
Yes, they do have your bowling needs covered. Balls, drilling, shoes and everything else to help you hit that 300 perfect game.
The customer service was very good. I did ask a few questions and had them answered in a friendly way. I did not have any hint about the staff being annoyed.
