The only time the dvd player on my laptop is used. What a better use for it, than music reviews? For local bands, I ususally wait to see them live before a studio review. Gracys Trip falls into this category.
No Way Out is a four song, original, Cd. The cover art is somewhat deceptive, if take n literally. Look for a deeper meaning here. Quick, track by track, breakdown first. Then overall review.
Sorry (track 1): Starts off a little eerie but kicks changes up with Doug Stoudt’s drums. The music does vary a little. Drums / guitars present an excellent theme for the lyrics and title.
No Way Out (track 2): Changes the pace of the more low key, Sorry. Starting off with a fast guitar and lyrics almost right off. Do not be fooled by the cover art for this song. Lyrics continue the theme started with Sorry. The powerful music / lyric combination continues to the last beat.
All Even (track 3): Be ready for a major change up at the start of this song! Starting with drums then comes the surprise. All Even then proceeds to have a more commercial feel with the lyrics. Like, No Way Out, the story is continued. Beat and instrument changes make this song have more than one surprise.
For You (track 4): The hardest one for the Cd. Starting off with serious metal on instruments / vocals / lyrics. Continuing throughout the song. You will do a double take with it being the same band. For You ends the Cd on a seriously hard edge.
Overall: Gracys Trip does a great job on this one. Mixing it up with music / vocals and surprises will keep you interested. A few surprises also help. The songs hint at a larger story. For fans of serious rock, this one is for you!
