Arriving around 2:30, I wanted to get a quick update in before things really kicked off. Being a skeptic, I have to admit one thing right off: I could easily feel the excitement and it is contagious. The doors to Musikfest Cafe officially opened at 3:00 P.M. Waiting in line, I was starting to become excited about being here. The advance ticket were $15.00. With the crowd slowly growing, I am still a skeptic if it is going to be worth the price. I would also love to be proven dead wrong on every point today. So far, it looks like everyone will enjoy the show / awards and it will be worth it.
There is a new restaurant / nightclub in Allentown. Chicago Nightlife (formerly Stratus) officially opened the doors at 4. Right now, there are only a few people here. One thing that seriously impresses me about this place is the layout. The main area has a bar with plenty of seating and 9 tables seating 4 each. The main restaurant area features a fireplace and tables / seats. The back area is the stage with a bar / nice size stage for a band of 5 to perform and a dance area. Another aspect is the overall atmosphere. Blue lighting and friendly bartenders lend to this place being a great one to relax and escape life. The first band, Common Bond starts at 9 tonight.
Overall recommendation: Due to layout and atmosphere I would place Chicago Nightlife on top of your list of places this weekend. Official Grand Opening is next Friday with Trick Stacy taking the stage. Chicago Nightlife is located on Airport Rd and Congress. It is at the Congress St. end of the shopping center where Redner's ls located. Check out their hot website! http://chicagorestaurantlv.com/ Traffic conditions in the area of Airport Rd. / Congress St. are slick. Vehicles are moving at slower speeds. Black ice is very present on exposed surfaces. Walking is very dangerous even on the sides of roads.
Allentown, PAAfter over 2 months, I have finally made this one tonight. Just started tonight. Looking for a good time / something to do with live music? Head out here to Pitcher's and join the growing crowd! I was just at the Redner's on Airport Rd. / Congress in Allentown. All cashiers are at their registers. The store is still stocked with all essentials. Advanced warning: lines are getting long. If you are going to head out to grocery stores, do it today. Do not be surprised if certain products (bread / milk / firewood / etc.) run low or completely out of stock. People are starting to act like they will not be able to get out for a few days.
This section was live in 2013. In the craziness of re-designing the website / magazine, it was deleted.
In the Moment will give updates from events as they happen. The updates will include short articles / photos / videos. Main reason? If you are in the area, you will have a great idea of what is happening. Updates will be from everyone involved with the magazine. Sometimes, if it is a large or multi-day event, you may see updates from different members at the same time. Hopefully, you will find "In the Moment" very useful when trying to figure out what to do. Especially if it is a multi-day event. As Always, Thank you for checking out A Valley and Beyond Michael Phoenix / founder |
