On the corner of Tighman and 20th you will find an Irish bar. It's kind of hard to miss with a covered entrance. Not much different from other bars. When you walk in: tables, U-shaped bar, events, menu, beverages. You have to look beyond physical appearances to find out what really makes this bar special.
This was my second time being here for a reason. Both times had to do with the bar honoring people who help the community. This evening featured Lehigh Valley Women on the Move. The first of 3 events honoring women in the Lehigh Valley. These women own small businesses and donate time and more to local charities and helping people out.
Tonight's honoree was Trish Dilg / Paper Bag Child. The last time I was here, Paper Bag Child had a benefit for the homeless and people in need. Yes, I was the only male who was here to attend the event. Donations were being collected for some new apartments on 6th st. in Allentown. You will see on the Facebook event page they did have a list.
Jack Callaghan's caught my attention for the community involvement. Last year, I attended an art exhibit opening. The bar is a nice place to stop and take a break from life. Relaxing atmosphere, nights with food / beverage specials are only some of the things including special benefits.
The Lehigh Valley Women on the Move was basically a friendly networking event. about 15 were there when I arrived. The donation part was successful. Bags with supplies were sitting on the floor when I walked in.
Check out the event page. The next 2 are listed. If you are in the area, head over. Grab a drink / food, meet new people and help some out you may never know. Trust me, it is a good feeling.
