A living part of history gone
Unfortunately, I no longer had photos from when Jimmy's was really jumping and open. In 2014, this bar was sold to Taco Bell and now torn down. If you want to visit the Jimmy's Place, head to the Allentown Golf course. I have heard the business is doing very good with decent prices. I want to focus on the past and what I knew about this place.
Jimmy's Place has been a bar and live music venue for over 15 years. In addition to beverages, they did have food and lunch specials including cheesesteaks, burgers and fries. I have been there a few times. Never tried the food. The drink and prices were good. For this article, I did not interview anyone. Going off what I remember.
Jimmy's Place was something the Allentown, Pa area really needed. It had the live music. On weekends, you could see both local and artists from other areas. They had events including benefits.
What I remember? Walking down Airport Rd. and seeing the entire parking lot filled with bikes. Then, finding out, there was a charity motorcycle run. Walking in, having everyone look at me for a second and then going back to having fun.
A local calendar benefit. The place was about half crowded in the back (stage section). Bands performing and giving a good show. And, playing some pool solo a few times. Jimmy's had several tables that were usually busy on the weekends. The way people pulled together when the family had the tragedy of a death. Jimmy's re-opened and continued to be a great place to go.
Before I forget this one. The staff was excellent. Bartenders always took care of the customers and were very friendly.
People talk about the history of this area. What used to be here. How things used to be. There is a lot of living history still left in the Lehigh Valley, Pa area. Everything has to change. This part of the living history, Jimmy's Place, is now one of those memories.
