Bethlehem, Pa: main st.
I have to give a little preview of an upcoming review here.
I think I am in Bethlehem at least 2 days / evenings every week. Lately, it has been on the south side. To get there, I always walk down Main st. Usually it's at night or on the weekend. I noticed one is always packed, Mama Nina. I have noticed a line of people waiting to get a table both inside and out.
Tuesday, 09/24/13, walking by in the afternoon, it was not that busy. Figured, why not see what the inside was like. A quick stop and Diet Coke lead me to ask the waitress if I could see the menu. I was considering a future review based on amount of people this place draws. The menu prices sealed it. $2.10 for a small Diet Coke lead me to believe this may be for people with higher / lower budgets. The menu and a short conversation with the waitress proved me right.
I try to review eating places in all price ranges. Mama Nina does have that range. Do not have a lot of cash to spend on a night out? You can get dinner / beverage here for between $10.00 - $12.00. Looking at the menu, and what I saw from people ordering, you will not leave here hungry. Talking to the waitress, some of their more popular dishes can run you $30.00.
In our conversation, she did mention the dress code. Wear jeans / sneakers? Not a problem! Business professional? You will feel very comfortable here also. From the dozens of times I have walked by and seen people outside, pretty much proved that point also.
Reason I did not eat here today? Honestly, I was not hungry and grabbed lunch about 2 hours earlier. The smells of different food almost changed that!
