Great music / food / a very emotional tribute to those who gave their lives in Vietnam
2014, I spent the entire weekend at Mayfair in Allentown. This year I decided to split the coverage. When I saw the tribute to those who died in Vietnam, that pretty much decided to be at SteelStacks for Memorial Day. The article / photos / videos are in another article. I wanted to give you an idea of what it was like at SteelStacks in this one.
The photos covering the fence you can not miss. Over the weekend, a lot of people were not only looking as they walked past, but stopping at spots. This is a very moving part of the weekend. Also, inside ArtsQuest, there are slideshows on the TV screens by the restrooms with photos and names of people who protected our country.
A combination of local / out of area / major recording artists was the other highlight! Orleans / BC Combo / Craig Thatcher and more gave a great variety of music for almost anyone.
I did not think that SteelStacks was a major event on Memorial Day weekend. 2015, I am very glad to have covered part of it. Between the music, memorial wall / slideshow and Vietnam memorial ceremony; I was wrong. If you are making plans to take a vacation next year on Memorial Day weekend, skip the beach. Make reservations at a hotel in the Lehigh Valley. Between Allentown / Bethlehem / Easton and surrounding towns, your family will have a great time. And be reminded of what the holiday is really about.
