Salisbury on fire...
Notre Dame (home): 56 / Salisbury (away): 89
Always looking for something new and different, high school basketball was another first for the magazine. A friend asked me if I wanted to go, her grandson was playing for Salisbury. Definitely, it has been a long time since I was at a high school basketball game.
Right from the tipoff and for the 1st quarter, Notre Dame took control of the game and maintained the lead. Starting early in the 2nd quarter, Salisbury started proving they were here to play seriously.
Taking a fast lead in the 2nd quarter, Salisbury never looked back. The team was able to capitalize on several missed shots by Notre Dame. Tevon Weber (blue #4) led the team with an aggressive style in shooting and defense.
Even though Salisbury completely dominated most of the game, I have to give a lot of credit to Notre Dame. They never gave up and played with a true heart and spirit.
Like I said, Salisbury really started catching fire in the 2nd quarter. Honestly, by the 4th, it was already over.
I have to give credit to both teams for playing their best and showing great sportsmanship. The referees did an excellent job on calls. I heard only 1 or 2 complaints from the crowd. A Valley and Beyond wishes both teams a great rest of the season. It was a pleasure covering this game as the first one for the magazine.
