Different in many areas
I am going to break away from the standard video format here.
I first saw Sharon in 2012 when she was attending School of Rock. She moved on to taking lead vocals for local band "That Being Said". Continuing to evolve her music career and challenge herself, Sharon is now one of the founding members of "Strange Paradise" and just started her solo career. She did her last show with "That Being Said" on 12/28/13 shortly after releasing her first solo album.
After catching several performances and interviewing her; I could not wait to listen to the Cd, "Breaking Free".
As usual, I am listening to the disc while doing the review. Oh, the main reason for not doing a video review? Seriously, I have cold and know it would not sound good.

The Review
Right off, Breaking Free has something seriously lacking in music. The songs are written from the heart and personal experience. When you open the case and take out the cd, there is a short preview of the songs written by Sharon. Curious if the music matched the words, I popped it in the laptop and hit play. With "Breaking Free"; Sharon actually tries to help you, in a way to break free of the shadows and ghosts that may are holding you back. Everyone has them, trust me on this one. Sorry, not at track-by-track breakdown here. Just my thoughts and the effect "Breaking Free" had on me.
I think everyone can relate to the entire disc. Don't think about the words, but the meaning. Remember your life, good and bad times. Most people had times of serious doubt. Moments of "Is it really worth it?" Even if we keep them hidden to the world. But, here is where you find the hope and success also. Starting with "Alone on New Year's Eve (Track 1) to "Baby, I'm Free" we are reminded of pulling out of those moments of doubt and giving up. How right when it seems there is no point to what we are doing; something happens and opens a new path or changes our direction.
Even though I liked every track, "Alone on New Year's Eve" really made an impact. The way the music started (slow and with a different beat) to the lyrics.
"Breaking Free" (entire Cd) does have a commercial feel to the music. There are changes and surprises even in the individual songs. I know this may sound a little strange; but, I really loved the disc for the following reasons. I could relate to each song on the personal level. Sharon does not go for a stereotypical "Let's have a #1 hit / album" on her first release. Instead, she writes and sings from the heart and life experience. The place where the best songs come from.
Yes, you can get up and dance to this one at points. You will also feel and remember.
I would definitely suggest "Breaking Free" and give it a very high recommendation. The only exception to this? If you are just looking for an album that has a few hits on it and zero passion. Or, if you are looking for something to play in the background, not for you. If you actually want to listen to music and lyrics. If you want songs that will have you remember and relate your life to; go to her website and pick up a copy. Better yet, if you are in the area, find out when she is performing live and have the entire experience including crowd interaction!
I am looking forward to how Sharon will evolve from this point. "Breaking Free" is an excellent start.
