Fun, cute and a challenge
I am a casual gamer. Play for fun and not seriously. The "city builder" style games are one of top 2 genres. After you get past the opening stages: go in, perform some tasks, autopilot. When playing games, I also like to escape reality.
The Tribez meets all these requirements!
Right off what caught my attention was the cute cartoon style villagers. Excellent job on the design. The game starts off with a short intro to the story followed by a short tutorial to give you a good feel. After that, standard from most games in this genre: follow the quests.
Tribez is a great game to play. The fun aspect is, in part, due to the villagers. I actually laugh at times watching them. OK, a little weird, check out the game. Like most "city builder games, it is also fun to create the village and evolve it.
There is a challenge factor to this game. The main one, trying to keep up with all the quests. From the start you can have about 5 at the same time. Some of the quests rely on randomness. Example: finding fruit in fields. Every time you harvest the fields, no guarantee that something will appear for the quest. If you are a serious gamer, this can get frustrating at times. As the game progresses, you will inhabit other islands. Again, the challenge factor of balancing resources. When you evolve beyond one island, quests will appear on an island that does not have that resource. Transportation becomes a serious factor in the game.
For people who love a game with a great story, Tribez has that! The story progresses with the game's evolution and foreshadows what is coming next. Story line does not get in the way of game play. There are no long videos to watch for progression.
Overall, this is a great game for kids and adults. It is for people who take gaming seriously. You will have a better experience playing for fun. Between the different islands to inhabit during game progression and constant quests, you will not finish this one in anything close to a short time. Like I said, the overall design and graphics seriously contribute to the fun factor. Add in a good story and quests that keep the game moving in set directions, Tribez is probably one of the most fun games I have played in a while!
