Nature and the Fates...

Apparently, Nature and the Fates wanted a vote!!!! The WZZO Battle of the Backyard Bands originally started at the end of August. The place was Allentown Fair. It was outside. After the first 3 bands (Break Neck Speed / Secret System / Back to the Action), storms hit. Nature cast her vote.

A little over a month later, it was the much anticipated finale. This time, indoors at Dave Phillips Music and Sound on Union Blvd. / Allentown. Making sure nature did not get a chance to cast another vote. The Fates decided it was their turn. Either that, or it was just cursed. With it being Halloween season, not sure which one I believe, seriously.

The fates vote? Technical difficulties. The start was delayed a few minutes. Then, about 30 seconds into MindMaze, Lights and sound go out! To quote John Bedics (Showgun Photography / Photographer Valley Beat): "It's not a metal show unless something blows out." I have to agree here. At least not a good one...

Hope you are not expecting a review, not happening. Basically, due to very short performances.

With the Fates vote cast, it was time to for music to have one. Starting with MindMaze really announcing their presence!
Sorry if the video is a little shaky. It was very hard to stay still during both performances. What can I say? I love rock music and find it hard not to move to the songs!
What can I say? MindMaze gave it everything they had. Sarah, Jeff, Kalin, Rich gave every note / word / movement a passion and power missing in most, major concerts.

Onto the last band, Honor. I have never heard of them. I give them a lot of credit in both music and overcoming another vote the Fates slid in: another, brief, technical problem.
They had a break due to more technical problems. They points and credit for covering it very good. A few jokes and conversation got the crowd laughing!!! Like the other bands, Each member gave it their best.

Short article / quick wrap up

No, I was not too lazy for this one. Instead of running the risk of boring you with a long write up. I want you to watch the videos, go to the event page and pick your own winner.

Here is a quick summary of how WZZO did. Jain did a great job of thanking everyone for coming out and being here. Thanking all the bands for what turned out one of the hardest choices between all 5. She also gave a quick recap of what happened. At the end, someone asked about the criteria. Not a problem letting everyone know.

Everyone involved on the technical side did their best to make sure everything ran as smooth as possible. Yeah, I give them a lot of credit for pulling it off! Credit to WZZO, judges, Jain, bands and everyone for having the patience between beginning / end of the contest. I was there for part 1. Within an hour of it being called off, there was at least 1 foot of water everywhere. Up to 8 feet at places.
Overall, both parts were done very well. Jain announced that it was, originally, at night. So, the lights went down!!!!

Oh, "AND THE WINNER IS...."

Seriously, do you think I would let you know here? Read some of my other articles. I love keeping you in suspense. I also want you to check out the links and find out. :)
